FIND OUT THE COMPETION DETAILS!

One of the oldest mountain tourism destinations in Romania, the Păltiniș resort, invites you to the PĂLTINIȘ CHALLENGE. The first edition of the cycling competition promises to be an exciting event filled with high adrenaline. Păltiniș Challenge is a cycling competition, both road and off-road, which will take place on July 8, 2023 as a pre-event to the professional stage of Sibiu Cycling Tour. The competition is open to all cycling enthusiasts, both women and men over the age of 18. Join the Păltiniș Challenge to experience the atmosphere of a professional race!

Păltiniș is a mountain resort in Transylvania, Romania, located 35 km south-west of Sibiu, in the Cindrel Mountains. It is situated at 1440 m altitude, being the oldest and highest mountain resort in Romania. It was founded – in 1894 – by the Siebenbürgischer Karpatenverein (S.K.V.) and some of the cottages from that period still exist nowadays. Păltiniș is a popular destination both in winter – as a skiing destination, but also in summer, when it is popular for its peacefulness, fresh air and easily accessible hiking and cycling trails.

The competition is open to all riders wishing to test their limits, but also to those who just want to feel the adrenaline rush of real competition. We invite all cycling enthusiasts, amateurs or affiliated members of cycling clubs, to ride in the Păltiniș Challenge. The competition has one stage, but two routes: road and off-road, starting from Gura-Râului and finishing in Păltiniș. The road route will cover a distance of 19km with an elevation of 900m, and the rough terrain route is 21 km and 990m in elevation.
